Tom began his training in acupuncture and tuina massage in 2004, embarking on a 3 year full-time degree course at the University of Westminster. During his training, he treated people with various conditions in the University of Westminster Polyclinic, and the NHS Gateway clinic in Clapham. Now, with over a decade of experience, he enjoys treating a wide variety of patients and conditions, and regularly attends training courses to further his knowledge and skill. These have included acupuncture for pregnancy and childbirth; traditional pulse diagnosis; treating physical pain; Classical acupuncture techniques and many more.
Tom is also trained in Functional Medicine. This involves using the latest private lab tests to assess a patient's health in a thorough way, including blood, hormone and stool tests. Individualised treatments plans are created incorporating diet, lifestyle and supplements.
Tom and his wife Kate - both ex-BBC employees - also produce videos and multi-media projects, mainly relating to acupuncture. Examples include the popular Manual of Acupuncture software - a training aid for acupuncture students - and the Acupressure for Natural Pain Relief in Labour DVD, which Tom co-presents with Debra Betts.
Tom runs private and low-cost 'multi-bed' acupuncture sessions from the Natural Health Clinic, and is a fully qualified member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC).
