What is Hypnotherapy?hypno

"Our thinking creates problems that the same kind of thinking will not solve" - Albert Einstein

Hypnotherapy seeks to change repetitive negative thoughts or habits into positive outcomes, leaving you free to get on with your life. Our thought patterns often go unnoticed and, if feelings of stress or unhappiness become more prominent, hypnotherapy can help you to develop new ways of thinking and lead a happier life as a result.

Hypnotherapy is a form of psychotherapy where the practitioner specifically focuses on communicating with the client on a subconscious level. It is a completely safe and non-invasive form of therapy, which can help with a broad spectrum of issues, including:

  • Anxiety
  • Sleep disturbance
  • Low confidence
  • Eating problems
  • Skin conditions
  • Pregnancy and labour

It has also been proven to help people who are giving up smoking. (See our Stop Smoking Programme).

Hypnotherapy allows the client the potential to change beliefs and behaviours which may have been in place for long periods of time. The part of the mind which controls our automatic responses can be positively affected by the treatment, and negative thoughts or emotions can be turned into positive actions. If you are serious about changing your life for the better, one or two sessions could be all you need.

What can I expect from a session?

An initial session will involve a discussion to decide on the priorities for your treatment, and your hopes and aims for hypnotherapy. You will also receive advice and techniques for handling difficult situations, staying relaxed, sleeping better and counter-acting negative thoughts and feelings.

During the therapy, you will be guided by the hypnotherapist through a process of relaxation into a pleasant trance state. They will then be able to work with you to change your thoughts and habits by gently suggesting new ideas directly to your subconscious where they can take root for lasting changes. The treatment is completely safe, and you will be in control to stop at any time if you wish.
